PICKLEBALL SPIN CONTINUED PART 2

SPIN CONTINUED PART 2 Defense against spin. Learn to read the paddle motion of your opponent upon hitting the ball and the ball in flight The higher level of play the more the spin game dominates play. The lower the skill level the less likely spin is utilized. There are 3 major effects of spin: How the ball travels thru the air. How the ball bounces on the court. How the ball rebounds off the paddle. As previously cited there are 5 basic types of spin, top spin, back spin, right hand spin, left hand spin, and under spin. Players often confuse top spin with underspin. So lets discuss the difference. Top spin, the swing comes from back of the ball to high shoulder height. The paddle head faces straight down pointed at the court. The paddle face is angled back slightly with a bend in the wrist. The paddle contacts the ball below the midpoint on the back side of the ball. Top spin > low to high swing. Top spin balls dip and curve downward in flight. Top spin has a low and acc

BRIEF EXPLANATION ON THE SCIENCE OF PICKLEBALL SPIN, PART 1

Spin is a phenonium that involve the laws of Physics. Just spinning the ball, not knowing the what effect each one of the 5 spins has on the ball can cause you a lot of unforced errors and points. I will be happy to accommodate your request. But there will be some technical information included that may be somewhat boring. Few players that I have seen that can make a ball curve completely outside the court lines and then land in the court. Another extremely difficult spin to perform is to hit a ball over the net into your opponents NVZ, and then have it bounce back onto your side of the court. Also on the serve if you hit a serve with a powerful back spin stroke, the CCW spin will cause the ball to drop down and it will stay inbounds. I will do a more comprehensive article on the factions of spin. https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/s600x600/143301001_2717588038504402_7790963770133199177_n.jpg?_nc_cat=102&ccb=2&_nc_sid=b9115d&_nc_ohc=j4RcQvENYwAAX9WGRKh&_nc_

SKILL SETS FOR THE ADVANCED PLAYER

TWO SKILL SETS YOU MUST MASTER TO PLAY AT THE ADVANCED LEVEL 1. Ability to take place off the ball and drop shot it back over the net from most anywhere on the court. 2. Consistently execute Drop shots with precise ball placement, misdirecting your opponent. The first 1 element requires mastering the biomechanics of the Drop Shot, developing the paddle feel and touch to absorb the power and pace of a hard hit line drive on an incoming ball whether at the NVZ or Transition Zone. A player must develop their sense of feel and touch of the ball as it impacts their paddle. You need to control and reduce the power of a hard hit incoming ball by absorbing most all of that energy by pulling back on the paddle as the ball contacts the face of the paddle. This is best accomplished with two hands holding the paddle out in front of your chest, in a split step foot position, crouched at the knees, facing the spot where you want the ball to go. After depacing the ball you use a soft push motion

SO WHERE DO PICKLEBALLERS GO FROM HERE, 2021 NEW YEAR

SO WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE 2021 A NEW YEAR? After months of playing on hard composition concrete courts, having our balls blown off the court, and enduring the bone chilling weather of winter, all because of a microscopic virus bug that just may be headed for annulation by one of several new found vaccines. The elected political leaders can dictate the time, place and protocols for playing pickleball, when they decide its safe to do so. "Wear the damn mask," is the soundbite for the day utter by our esteem leaders. I say "where's the " damn vaccine?" As I stood in a snaking line marked on the concrete floor of the Fiair Grounds Cow Palace, anticipating the sting of a needle in my arm, I thought of all my fellow pickleball players who are not yet eligible to get the shot. A sense of guilt pervaded my mind but as I looked around there were a lots of people in the same line. They didn't look like they were feeling remorseful for being there. Overall I c
