Approximately half of these participants were current PTR Pro Tennis Coaches qualifying for PPR certification to teach pickleball, and half were current Pickleball Coaches and Instructors qualifying for PPR Coaching Certification, all levels..  PPR Certification on-court performance evaluation mock doubles game play required a minimum skill sets execution of 4.0. Participants had to demonstrate specific skills according to PPR stroke development mandates, during doubles game play, and were evaluated by three clinicians as to

NEWDAY PICKLEBALL HAS ARRIVED

THE PRODIGAL SON RETURNS FROM HILTON HEAD SC,  a worn, torn and depleted man after 11 hours of oncourt advanced skills instruction from a kick-ass, no mercy Coach.  Each of the 12 advanced skill sets were evaluated and graded while demonstrating them in a mock doubles game format outdoors in the hot humid SC heat.  No shade, no place to sit and no fun.  Each skill set had to be executed according to 4.0+ standards.  No I am not kidding, Nor am I a 4.0 skill level player, and after 6 hours I began to wonder why I was even here.  There were 14 qualified participants who entered the pickleball thunder dome, and at the end of a torturous day only 4 left the thunder dome victorious.  However, I became well schooled in the art of the 5 stroke net game.  I also learned about the effects of humidity on indoor and outdoor balls.  I also learned that the drop shot should not be taught unless a player is at least a 3.0 skill level. Another eye opener was a good player should be able to place hi
LYNN COBURN, PROFESSIONAL PICKLEBALL COACH, ALL SKILL LEVELS, BETTER THAN ALL THE REST! Lynn Coburn is one of Maryland's best kept pickleball secrets. Lynn resides in Baltimore County, and coaches pickleball at several local private racquet clubs. Lynn also conducts skill specific clinic for small groups in the surrounding area who prearrange court space and time. Aside from her professional teaching career, and her professional pickleball coaching career, Lynn is a competitive tournament player at the 4.5 skill level. She recently won Gold in Pittsburg and her successful tournament history speaks for itself. But Lynn is reserved and not one to promote her self, nor does she ever boast about her competitive successes. In my opinion, I would rank Lynn Coburn as one of the best women's pickleball players in Maryland. Lynn Coburn is simply the best professional pickleball coach, I have ever had, including my friends Sarah & Linh Ansboury, who I will be see

PICKLEBALL ON CLAY COURTS? WHAT'S NEXT "PICKLE-WATER-BALL?

SO YOU WANT TO PLAY PICKLEBALL ON CLAY COURTS....GOOD LUCK! Playing pickleball on clay courts is a novel idea. In reality it could be a heck of a lot of fun and present players with a challenge to their abilities to adjust their game to the new surface. If I had the opportunity to play pickleball on a clay court, I would do it in a 'New York minute.' I would ellllxpect that there isn't a designate clay court strictly for pickleball. Clay courts are cooler, easier on the feet, and reward finesse and controlled shots versus power. The bounce is lower on the clay, so a hard-hit groundstroke is a lower percentage shot. These courts are considered the slowest surface in racquet sports including pickleball. Here is what you need to know to play on clay. 1. slows down the speed of the ball; 2. reduces the skid of the ball on the surface of the court; and 3. causes a high bounce of the ball. Due to the these characteristics, the Clay Courts r

COACH'S CORNER Charm City Pickleball Sunday 7/1/2018 Great Play & Great Players

“COACHES CORNER,” SUNDAY 7/1 CCPB @ NERRC 11AM-12:30PM GREAT PLAY & GREAT PLAYERS WOW! What a phenomenal mix of high skilled pickleball players that attended the Sunday CCPB NERRC Open Play Venue.  Not only were these players extremely talented, they were congenial and considerate of their fellow plays,  awaiting court time. PICKLEBALL PROFESSIONAL COACHING SERVICE BEGINNERS THRU INTERMEDIATE PLAYERS Coach “Joe Palmere”   email: bhdpal@verizon.net IPTPA Certified Pickleball Professional Coach I was fortunate to witness and participate in several "text book style" finesse strategy pickleball  games. Participants mutually complimented each other on individual shots and crosscourt volleys.  Players were not only playing well, they were having a lot of fun in the process. Many of the  regular CCPB players who showed up were not disappointed.  The newly painted pickleball court lines on a superior grade court surface, make this a premier
