PROGRESSIVE PCILEBALL INSTRUCTION PROGRAM FOR BEGINNERS AND PLAYERS WITHOUT ANY FORMAL PICKLEBALL TRAINIG

The problem with most Beginners’ Pickleball Instruction Programs, is they lack a structured curriculum that motivates a student to learn and demonstrate minimum skill sets and game knowledge to enjoy playing pickle ball in an more competitive environment. Many beginner pickle ball programs do not provide a student with a weekly progression assessment as to their improvement or lack thereof. Lacking any method of testing performance abilities and game knowledge, many students do not feel confident to participate in an open pickle ball play venue or drop-in games. Those that take the chance and are unprepared oftentimes become disenchanted, disillusioned and intimidated by more experienced players, and end their pickle ball playing career.
There are three structured recommendations to be incorporated into to the Beginners Pickleball Instruction Program.

The first recommendation is establish a “benchmark skill level and game knowledge” for a student to achieve before advancing into “Open Play Pickleball.” Students attending “unstructured programs,” often decide, by self assessment, when they are ready to move on into recreational “Open Play Pickleball.”

The second recommendation to add to the Beginners Pickleball Instruction Program is an attendance policy for students. Currently students are allowed to enroll anytime after the Instruction Program has begun. This “come at will.” student attendance policy conflicts with good teaching practices and disrupts a positive learning environment.

The third recommendation is for students to complete their home  practice assignments, in preparation for in-class drills, and improving skills. Students will be instructed to purchase a practice paddle and three indoor pickle balls, at their own expense, before the first class.
