CHARM CITY PICKLEBALL CLUB SUMMER 2018 LADDER LEAGUE

CHARM CITY PICKLEBALL CLUB SUMMER 2018
LADDER LEAGUE
Organizing any pickle ball instructional, open play, drop in play, and especially competitive play venue is an audacious, complex and challenging task. Participants who enjoy the fruits of these activities, seldom if ever understand and comprehend how much time and effort is required to produce a positive outcome. I can speak with some degree of creditability on these issues.
Organizing and leading a “Ladder League Club Competition” is one of those formidable, thankless undertakings that few members would or could successfully accomplish.
Not so with Josh Saylor! Josh has done an outstanding job developing CCPB Ladder League Competition. He used the basic USAPA LADDER LEAGUE Format, but he added a “uniquely creative” conclusion with two Tournament Division Winners. One Division recognizes the skills of the higher scoring advanced players and the other Division recognizes the achievements of players who are seriously attempting to improve their skills, and succeeding. However, any player who participates in this Ladder League, regardless of how well they do or don't do, should take great pride in their courage and confidence
Josh is a “young rising star” in the competitive world of USAPA Sanctioned Tournament play. Having achieving a USAPA 4.0 rating says a lot about his continued pathway to championship pickle ball. I would not be surprised to see Josh Saylor and Ben Johns going head to head in the not too distant future.
For those members who have asked me for a simplified version of how a ladder league works, I plagiarized Josh’s post attempted to do so. Disclaimer, If there are any errors of methodology or process, I accept full responsibility.
Charm City Pickleball Club Ladder League Simplified
Each Sunday you are assigned to a foursome.
During League Play, you play once with everyone in the original foursome.
You play three (3) weekly games of fifteen (15) points.
After each game, players write their teams score next to their names.
*Each team member receives the points their team scored during a game.
Each week’s 3 game maximum point totals =45 points (3 games X 15 points).
The Ladder League will be limited to 16 players.
Example:
Player A wins one (15-2point) game, but loses two (3-15 & 14-15) games.
Player A earns 32 of 45 possible points for that week.
Do the math: (15+3+14=32).
Based on the “16 weekly players‘ scores,” each player will move up the ladder, stay put, or move down the ladder.
During the final two (2) weeks of the Ladder League, the eight (8) players with the highest scores be will be posted in descending order as Division “A“ Ladder League Competitors.
Division “A” players will compete against other Division “A” players for the CCPC Ladder League Championship Division “A” Title.
Concurrently, Players #9 thru #16 will be posted by descending scores, as Division “B” Ladder League Competitors.
Division “B” Players will compete against other Division “B” players for the CCPC Ladder League Championship Division “B” Title.
The final two weeks of CCPB Championship Division “A” and Division “B” playoff competition will consist of six (6) games of fifteen (15) points per Division. Possible 90 point maximum total. The “Highest Scoring Player of each Division will be declared the CCPB Ladder League Division “A” and “Division “B” Champions.
*All players are welcome to join the ladder league but should know this is meant for a more competitive atmosphere than regular open play. For
