SKILL RATING FOR 2.5 SKILL SETS

PICKLEBALL SKILL LEVEL ASSESSMENT CRITERIA FOR A 2.5 SKILL LEVEL
Regarding My May 13 & May 20 Skill Specific Coaching Clinics I Posted on the CCPB FB Page a few days earlier I requested attendees have a "self-rated 2.5 skill level."  You will need to register for the one or both clinics by emailing me with your name and contact information, including a phone number if I have to cancel due to foul weather on short notice. I have also provided a 2.5 Skill Assessment Sheet for those to self-rate themselves.  
Go down the list and evaluate your ability to perform each of these 2.5 skill sets as listed.
• Knows basic rules, Double Bounce Rule, scoring & player position to scoring
• Uses basic pendulum swing on forehand & backhand side
• Consistency while dinking down line forehand & backhand
• Consistency while dinking cross court forehand & backhand
• Uses side step movement while staying balanced at NVZ line
• Demonstrates a punch volley
• 3rd shot drop 2/5 success rate from the transition area
• Can hit 3rd shot drop from baseline 2/5 success rate
• Can dink at NVZ
• Has good eye-hand coordination
• Shows control on forehand groundstrokes (direction/depth)
• Uses a backhand ground stroke
• Keeps ball in play during short rallies
Skill Testing Requirement: Dinks
• Forehand down the line 5/10 success rate
• Forehand cross court 5/10 success rate
• Backhand down the line 5/10 success rate
• Backhand cross court 5/10 success rate
Skill Testing Requirement:
3rd shot drop from transition area (middle of the court)
• Forehand 4/10 success rate
• Backhand 4/10 success rate
Skill Testing Requirement: Volleys
• Forehand Punch Volley 5/10 success rate
• Backhand Punch Volley 5/10 success rate
Skill Testing Requirement:
• Overhead 2/10 success rate
Skill Testing Requirement: Serves
• Deuce Court 2/5 success rate
• Ad Court 2/5 success rate
Skill Testing Requirement: Return of serves
• Deuce Court 2/5 success rate
• Ad Court 2/5 success rate

DOUBLES PICKLEBALL LADDER LEAGUE TEMPLATES.

DOUBLES PICKLEBALL TEAM LADDER LEAGUES TEMPLATES The USAPA webpage under Tournaments has software templates for most any kind of tournament imaginable.  USAPA members can obtain the software free, and register their ladder league in the same process. If 4 players can rotate in three game in one two hour period, logically 8 players or 4 teams can do the same.  I have never run a ladder league.  But I can work with templates and add or subtract to accomplish my objective. Recreational/competitive Pickleball is team related. recreational/competitive ladder leagues can and should be team related. By team related you pick your partner before the LL starts and you play with that same partner until the end of the LL.  Scores can be aggregate and represent one team.  Rotation of play will require more scheduling woos but its not rocket science.  The All Ladies Summer LL I was planned back in Summer 2019, was permanent partners, comprising 16 teams

SO YOU WANT TO TEACH PICKLEBALL

‎SO YOU WANT TO TEACH PICKLEBALL TO NEW PLAYERS OR YOU HAVE DESIGNS ON BECOMING A PICKLEBALL COACH . . ;. READ THIS FIRST! For those players who are interested in becoming a IPATPA Certified Pickleball Level I Instructor you can do so just by attending one of the IPTPA Teach The Teacher Workshops.  You can find the schedule, dates, time and locations for these Workshops on IPTPA.com. The Level I IPTPA Certification is for teaching Beginners Classes only as a volunteer instructor.  This is a great pathway to becoming a IPTPA Certified Level II Professional Pickleball Coach, with Liability Insurance, to teach beginners and coach experienced players up to and including the 4.0 level.  This Certification also affords you the opportunity to charge a fee for any of your services.  In Maryland there are only 5 IPATP Level II Professional Pickleball Coaches in Maryland.  Level II Professional Pickleball Coaching Certification is structured as a college level learning cour
