OT OFF THE PRESS
"NEW USAPA PLAYER RATING SYSTEM"
"NEW USAPA PLAYER RATING SYSTEM"
FINALLY, a "fair and balanced, fully automated, mathematically calculated, results based, universal ratings system, calculated by computer, using strategically-created algorithms. unimpaired by human bias or intervention.
🤢

I love it! Something about the word " algorithms," that makes me want to apply as a "Certified Rating Specialist."
😛

USAPA new official tournament rating system powered by PickleballTournaments.com.
This is a fully-automated, results-based ratings and ranking system.
The new Tournament Rating System will be similar to those used in tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis, and other sports.
Ratings will be extremely accurate, objective and universal.
Ratings will be calculated by computer using strategically-created algorithms.
Ratings will be based on tournament results from past 2 years.
Ratings will be weighted by adopting factors such as tournament format (sanctioned vs. non-sanctioned), recency of play and strength of the player’s opponent. “
Unlike the current 2-digit skill rating (ex. 3.5), the new USAPA Tournament Ratings will be a 4-digit rating (ex. 3.786) and will prove to be more precise.
Based on statistical data, the 4-digit rating will update 2-digit skill levels.
Examples, a player rating of 3.994 maps to 3.5 skill level & 4.014 maps to 4.0.
New Ratings will be calculated for five (5) competitive divisions -- Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
USAPA members can check their ratings on their USAPA.org by July of this year.
Additional features: access other USAPA member player’s rating, & the “Top 100” rated players in the five divisions.
USAPA no longer accepts rating recommendations.
Players wishing to appeal his/her rating for an event prior to the release may continue to do so by emailing ratingschair@usapa.org.
Player without rating may self-rate following USAPA guideline
