2016 Section 4 Service Rules
4.A.1 Underhand Defined.
The arm must be moving in an upward arc and the paddle head shall be below the wrist when it strikes the ball. The highest point of the paddle head cannot be above any part of lined formed where the wrist joint bends.
2018 Section 3 Definations
3.A.36. Underhand – The player’s arm must be moving in a forward and upward arc with the palm turned upward or downward.
2018Section 4 Service Rules
4.A.2. The service motion begins with the server’s arm movement initiating the swing, backward or forward, to contact the ball.
4.A.5. The serve must be made with an underhand stroke whereby the server’s arm must be moving in an upward arc (see Figure 4-1).
4.A.6. The paddle head must be below the server’s wrist when it strikes the ball. The highest point of the paddle head cannot be above the highest part of the wrist (where the wrist joint bends) (see Figure 4-1).
4.A.7. Contact with the ball is made below waist level (waist is defined as the navel level) (see Figure 4-1).
The 2018 Rules 4.A.1 Section 4 Service has removed the definition of Underhand and placed it under 3.A.36.. Underhand – The player’s arm must be moving in a forward and upward arc with the palm turned upward or downward.
2016 Underhand Defined:under 4.A.1.
The arm must be moving in an upward arc and the paddle head shall be below the wrist when it strikes the ball. The highest point of the paddle head cannot be above any part of lined formed where the wrist joint bends.
The 2018 Revision of "Underhand definition," with the inclusion of "The player’s arm must be moving in a forward and upward arc with the palm turned upward or downward," is going to add another dimension to rule a serve illegal. Not much else has changed except the reference to the imaginary line." The Underhand definition was also moved from Sec 4 Service to Sec 3 Definitions.
I downloaded a copy of the serve motion diagram in the 2018 Book. Whoever designed this visual aid had a major brainfart.

DOUBLES PICKLEBALL LADDER LEAGUE TEMPLATES.

DOUBLES PICKLEBALL TEAM LADDER LEAGUES TEMPLATES The USAPA webpage under Tournaments has software templates for most any kind of tournament imaginable.  USAPA members can obtain the software free, and register their ladder league in the same process. If 4 players can rotate in three game in one two hour period, logically 8 players or 4 teams can do the same.  I have never run a ladder league.  But I can work with templates and add or subtract to accomplish my objective. Recreational/competitive Pickleball is team related. recreational/competitive ladder leagues can and should be team related. By team related you pick your partner before the LL starts and you play with that same partner until the end of the LL.  Scores can be aggregate and represent one team.  Rotation of play will require more scheduling woos but its not rocket science.  The All Ladies Summer LL I was planned back in Summer 2019, was permanent partners, comprising 16 teams

‎SO YOU WANT TO TEACH PICKLEBALL TO NEW PLAYERS OR YOU HAVE DESIGNS ON BECOMING A PICKLEBALL COACH . . ;. READ THIS FIRST! For those players who are interested in becoming a IPATPA Certified Pickleball Level I Instructor you can do so just by attending one of the IPTPA Teach The Teacher Workshops.  You can find the schedule, dates, time and locations for these Workshops on IPTPA.com.
